Account and profile information
When you create an account, Local Finds may process the name, email address and user identifier needed to sign you in, associate your listings and provide support. We use this information for app functionality, not to sell personal information.
Keep your profile information accurate and do not add passwords, payment details or identity-document numbers.
Listings, photos and messages
The description, photos and other details you add to a listing are user content. They are shown to people using Local Finds in the relevant area so they can understand the item and decide whether they are interested.
Do not put your full address, telephone number, bank information, access codes or another person’s private information in public listing text or photos. You remain responsible for the content you post.
Approximate location and pickup privacy
Local Finds uses coarse location or the area you choose to show listings within the local discovery area, including the nearby 15-mile browsing experience. This helps people find relevant items without publishing an exact collection address on a listing.
Exact pickup details should be shared privately and only when you decide to arrange a collection. The app is not designed to make your home address public.
Interest, reports and safety tools
If you save an item, express interest, report content or block another user, Local Finds processes that action to provide the feature and help protect the community. Reports may be reviewed alongside the listing or account information needed to investigate a concern.
Blocking limits how you interact through the app, but it cannot remove content you have already shared outside Local Finds. For immediate danger, contact emergency services or the appropriate local authority.
Usage information
The app may process product-interaction information, such as how people use screens and features, to understand reliability, improve the experience and personalise in-app functionality. This information can be linked to an account where needed to provide the feature.
We do not use it to sell your information or to let third parties build an advertising profile from your listings.
Visibility, retention and deletion
Your listing stays visible until you remove it, close it, it expires or we take action under community rules. Account and activity information can remain while it is needed to operate the service, resolve a safety issue or meet a legal obligation.
Use the available controls to delete or close your own content. If you need help with account or content deletion, email support with “Local Finds privacy” in the subject.
Keeping this policy current
Local Finds is available on the App Store. This policy will be updated before a material change to its data practices, including a new account, storage, notification, moderation or analytics provider.
How to read this policy
This policy covers personal information handled by MateTech for Local Finds and direct support requests about it. It explains the app’s own processing alongside the information handled by services you choose, such as Apple, iCloud, the App Store or a sign-in provider. Those services have their own privacy notices and controls.
Why we use information
We use information to provide the feature you ask for, maintain the app, respond to support, prevent misuse and keep the service reliable. Depending on the feature, the legal basis may be providing the app to you, your consent for an optional permission or setting, or our legitimate interests in security and service improvement. We do not use sensitive app content for unrelated marketing.
Your choices and UK privacy rights
You can manage optional permissions in the app and iOS Settings, and can withdraw consent for an optional feature by turning it off. Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a portable copy of personal information MateTech controls. You can make a request through the contact details below. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Contact and policy changes
Email support@matetech.uk for privacy questions. We may verify identity before acting on a request. Where UK data-protection law applies, we normally respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your request, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We update this page before material changes to the app's data practices.
